Colt Python Engraved, .357 magnum cal. double action revolver. Serial #45720E, mfg. 1976. Unfired in box. Wow! Rare 1970's fully scroll engraved Python from the Colt Custom Shop and specially presented in a brown colored vinyl hard presenation case with copper colored crushed velvet interior. Special Colt lettering on top and inner lid. 6" vent rib barrel with adjustable sights. Scroll engraving covers barrel (except top rib), frame, cylinder, trigger guard and top of back grip strap. Colt monogrammed checkered target walnut grips. Only the very slightest of a cylinder ring (they shoot three cylinders for proof at the factory). Top of the case is a bit rubbed and it's hard to read the Colt lettering and some of the crushed velvet is coming loose behind the handgun due to long term storage/oil. Absolutely gorgeous and very desirable! Produced during the "Dirty Harry" era - remember that the 1973 "Magnum Force" elevated the Python to cult status much the same way that Dirty Harry propelled the Model 29 to stardom. We know now that finest craftsmen and bluers at Colt were working on these snake guns and there is no action that is silkier, no trigger pull more crisp. Great investment piece and a rare one to find! Lots of Pythons out there from the 70's, but very few engraved ones!
