U.S. Springfield Model 1903, .30-06 cal. bolt action military rifle. Serial #667174. Standard issue during World War I and II. This rifle appears to be a World War I issue with a low serial number and then fitted for World War II with a RA barrel dated "2-42". Bore is excellent and shiny and has a ME of 1 which is quite good. Should shoot nicely! But this rifle's service was not done in World War II, as it has "Lend-Lease" marks and was shipped to the UK for service there. British ordnance proof marks - "BNP" and ton marks on the left side of the breech area. Parkerization is 95% and nice. Good tight action. Stock is excellent and has "FJA" inspector marks and a faint "Crossed Cannon" symbol mark as well. Leather sling. Grooved forearm. Much history here with this old war horse! C&R OK.
