U.S. Colt Model 1911A1, .45 cal. auto military pistol. Serial #1649698, mfg. 1944. Standard World War II issue for U.S. officers. Excellent condition. Very fine Colt with 98% correct "greenish" parkerization and vivid markings. Just a little fading in the finish on the grip safety and back strap. Marked "GHD" on left side of frame behind trigger and above magazine release. "P" under mag release. On right side of frame: "U.S. Property" and "M1911A1 U.S. Army". Brown plastic grips are excellent. Bore is bright and shiny with strong rifling. Tight action. "Cross Cannon" symbol on right side of frame. Lanyard loop. Correct era World War II magazine. 1913 patent date on slide. Outstanding piece! C&R OK.
