Colt Pocket Positive, .32 cal. double action revolver. Serial #34913,mfg. 1907. Estate gun with an interesting connection to famous FBI agent Eliot Ness. As related by grandson of Hugh Carney, the former owner: From 1929-1931 Hugh Carney was warden of Warrensville Workhouse (Cleveland). 1931-1934 Carney was appointed Special-Agent-In-Charge of a Crime Task Force by Eliot Ness. This Colt Pocket Positive .32 was given as a gift to Carney from Eliot Ness for his outstanding service in the line of duty and for contributions in the conviction of Al Capone. The gun is in excellent condition with 98% blue. Some light pitting in the bore. 3 1/2" barrel with fixed sights. Colt hard rubber grips are excellent. Includes vintage leather holster, typed unsigned letter from Carney grandson and State Intelligence Badge #1148 of Carney's. Quite a bit of history here! As you know, Eliot Ness was Cleveland's Public Safety Direction during the Depression and did some hard living and hard drinking here on the east side. Very interesting piece! C&R OK.
