Marlin Model 1897, .22 long rifle cal. lever action rifle. Serial #227870. Good condition. 24" octagon barrel has good bore. Interesting little rifle - forerunner of Model 39. Takedown. Part of a tang sight. Bluing is fading to patina on barrel and magazine tube. Receiver has some flashes of case colors. Buckhorn sights. 1892 patent date on barrel. Wood retains 60% of original varnish and is without cracks. Tight action. Cycles nicely. Great little gun! C&R OK.
