Parker Single Barrel Trap, 12 ga. single shot competition shotgun. Serial #178779, mfg. 1917. Beautiful C Grade that has nicely reconditioned and fitted with a nicely burled piece of American walnut and highly decorated with oak-leaf checkering. Case color on frame is 99% and very much like the original colors (looks like a DelGreco job). 34" barrel which is rare to see in the Parker Single Barrel Trap - most of the less than 2000 production runs were 32". Tight action. Shiny bore. Vivid markings. Red recoil pad. Wide competition forearm. Very pretty! 1917 was the first year of the Parker Single Barrel Trap and very quickly it established itself as the premier trap gun and was used by all of the "big shots". Two detractions I see and these are surely due to the 30+ years of storage: The top lever stays over right sporatically when the gun is broken open and the trigger moves very slowly - it needs to be taken apart by its new owner and "degunked". Also small crack at bottom of forearm wood. Pull trigger. LOP is 14 1/8" over pad. Super impressive trap gun! A very desirable vintage single barrel! C&R OK.
