Remington Model 40-X Sporter, .22 long rifle cal. bolt action rifle. Serial #42889B, mfg. 1969. Very good condition! Rare sporter version of the famous 40-X target rifle - seldom seen - only a few hundred were produced in the Remington Custom Shop and they were a special order gun that was pricey in its day for a .22. Bluing on barrel and receiver is 98%, but some wear on triggerguard and around magazine well. One 10-rd. magazine. 24" medium weight barrel. Bore is excellent. Wood is gorgeous with great burl towards the butt. Nicely checkered. Rose wood pistol grip cap and forearm cap. Has been shot quite a bit, but nicely cared for. Some marks on the wood is the only detraction. Left cheekpiece. Sling swivels. Open sights. Redfield one-piece mount in place - ready for scope and rings. These are quite accurate! Here is a masterpiece... What a gun! Wow! Original and beautiful!
