C. Bartels & Buttner German Schutzen, .22 cal. single shot falling block rifle. NSN. Mfg. in Frankfurt, Germany. Antique. Excellent condition! Absolutely gorgeous handmade Schutzen from the 1800's with 28" octagon target barrel, engraved receiver, adjustable tang sight and typical scooped cheekpiece. Wow! Tight action. Excellent bore. Fine line checkering flows out to a leaf pattern that is most impressive. Deeply scroll engraved receiver is lightly case-colored and beautiful. Tang sight is a work of art in itself! Schutzen style steel target buttplate. Thumb rest. Sling swivels. Bluing on barrel is 95% with some patches of light freckling and some dings on the barrel edges. Double-set triggers. Stock is a beautiful piece of European walnut with original finish. Only detraction is a chip out of the forearm on the right side (see photo). Great piece! Antique. Heavy - will require extra shipping to your home.
