U.S. Colt Model 1911, .45 cal. auto military pistol. Serial #490500, mfg. 1918. Standard U.S. officer's issue during World War I. This specimen started its life as a blue World War I gun, but was pressed into service during the Big One and received parkerization from the Augusta Arsenal. Parkerization is 98% and nice! Walnut checkered grips are excellent. All marks are vivid. Correct "Eagle Head" inspector's mark on left side of frame. 1913 patent date on left side of slide. Prancing Pony in middle of slide - left side - all correct. "United States Property" on left side of frame. Right side of slide: "Model of 1911 U.S. Army" which is correct. Vintage mag. Lanyard loop. Excellent, shiny bore. Functions nicely. Lots of history throught two world wars. Great one! C&R OK.
