A note on shipping guns...
We've had quite a few inquiries lately about the cost to ship firearms to you or your FFL dealer. Here's our philosophy: We ship as cheaply as possible and it is NOT our intent to hose you on the costs. Rather, we do it as cheaply as possible. So we are constantly looking at new shipping "trends" - many of these shipping companies are competing with each other and we switch around to take advantage of the least expensive methods. We are now taking advantage of a new U.S. Mail offer of $10.10 plus insurance to ship handguns Priority. We will try to use this as much as we can, but the box is fairly small and if the handgun has wooden case or other big accessories, it will not fit and we will be back to larger boxes and lose the "special deal". This special U.S. Mail box can fit three or four small handguns if they don't have factory boxes, so this will help defray costs. Remember that UPS (and Fed-X) have taken over 5% increases in the last few months. But here's big rub: UPS requires us to ship handguns OVERNIGHT and that's the most expensive method. We save you money by bubble wrapping four or five smaller handguns in one box and we're trying to save money by using U.S. Mail for handguns, but not all items can fit into their economical special box which is strictly limited to size. But remember too that we insure your guns for the bid price and that bumps up the total price. We say $11 - $30 per handgun, but can save you mucho bucks by putting four or five in the same carton or using U.S. Mail. We have also found that expensive handguns - $5000 or over can go the least expensive way with Registered Mail/Insured and we will try to utilize that as much as possible. Long guns are $25 and we ship as fast as we can after we figure up the insurance and use the fastest method. Again, we can usually put two rifles in one carton and save for you (unless there are big accessories or factory boxes that crowd the carton). Sometimes our customers tell us to ship a long gun overnight and we are glad to do this, but need to charge more of course. Call with specific wants! It takes a long time to pack a valuable gun properly, but we take the time and attention just as if it were ours!
