| Liberator Pistol, .45 acp cal. single shot, W.W. II
|

Price On Request |
World War II Liberator Pistol, .45 acp single shot military. NSN. Mfg. in 1942 by General Motors' Guide Lamp Division utilizing inferior blemished sheet metal and other non essential metals not needed in the regular war effort. One of the most famous and most seldom seen World War II American produced pistols that were provided to the French Resistance and other European freedom fighters as well as China and the Philipines. Over one million were dropped from airplanes to the freedom movement below during World War II. The object was simple: Poke the Liberator into the ribs of an enemy soldier behind the lines, discard the Liberator and steal the dead Nazi's good weapons. The highly disposable Liberator which more resemebled a sardine can than a handgun, was churned out by General Motors in 1942 only at the rate of one per every six seconds and they were able to make one million Liberators in ten weeks! The gun was packaged in a paper box with ten cartridges (they were stored in the hollow handle of the pistol) with an illustrated card showing how to load the gun and eject the spent cartridge with a wooden stock (provided). Not many Liberators made it back to the states after the war - they were discarded quickly, heaved over sides of ships and generally not thought of for practical use. Hence, very rare. This wonderful example is in excellent condition. 4" smoothbore barrel. Unique cocking mechanism combines with a rear sight that doubles as a loading gate. Sliding door on bottom of grip houses ten cartridges. The Liberator is now taking its place as one of the most sought after World War II weapons with a rich history. Note the "pitt" looking areas on this speciman - these are not corrosion but examples of the inferior materials used to build the Liberator. Great piece! C&R OK.

| Herb Parson's Winchester Model 70 Super Grade,
.270 Exhibition Rifle |
|
|
Herb Parson's Winchester Model 70 Super
Grade Exhibition Rifle, .270 cal. bolt action rifle. Serial #259917,
mfg. 1953. Personal exhibition rifle owned by the "World Greatest
Shot" Herb Parsons - Winchester Exhibition Shooter - for Winchester
from 1929-1959. Parsons traveled from town to town, shooting
tournament to shooting tournament, shooting as many as seven clay
targets in the air at one time with Model 12, shooting targets as
small as an aspirin with a .22 and with this Model 70 watermelons
with dynamite which was a HUGE CROWD PLEASER that NEVER failed to
elicit a HUGE response from the delighted crowd. Parsons shot with
many of the shooting movie stars of the time - Andy Devine, Clark
Gable, Roy Rogers and Wallace Berry to name a few. Parsons did all
of the trick shooting for the movie "Winchester '73" with Jimmy
Stewart. He was also a World Duck Calling Champion as well over the
years. He performed every year at the Grand American Trapshoot and
other big shooting tournaments. He drew circus like crowds
everywhere he went with his distinctive station wagon loaded with
Winchester guns and ammo and topped with two huge Winchester shotgun
shells that doubled as a loudspeakers - he would cruise through a
town announcing his exhibition shooting and kids would pour out of
the schools and shops shut down as they went to see the "Showman
Shooter" go through his act shredding cabbages, tomatoes and other
produce. The air resembled a shredded salad as bullets and words
shot out for the crowd to hear. His shooting acts were not only
about hitting aerial targets and exploding watermelons, but were
laden with his Tennessee sayings about being a "Good American" and
learning gun safety and the respect for the farmer's property while
hunting. Herb Parsons' most famous phrase was: "If you hunt with
your boy today, you won't have to hunt for your boy tomorrow." This
Winchester man was an inspiration for a generation of shooters. His
personal guns have never before been offered for sale except by us
here at the Gunrunner - most of his guns are in museums as the
Buffalo Bill Cody Museum in Cody, Wyoming with the Winchester
factory collection and the Ducks Unlimited museum. Now is your
change to own a real piece of Americana and a very wonderful example
of a Winchester Model 70 with HISTORY. The rifle is in very good
condition and is a Super Grade hand-picked at the factory by Parsons
himself for the nice wood. The gun is USED. There are, of course,
marks on the stock from all of the exhibition shooting and some
marks on the metal where the juices from the various exploded
produced came back and rained over him. Fitted with a Lyman
All-American 4x vintage scope with Pac swivel-side mount. Iron
sights. The Parsons family will provide a documented letter with the
rifle authenticating it in every way, there are photos included of
Parson shooting the rifle in exhibition shooting, a DVD of "Showman
Shooter" filmed by Winchester in 1954 with the rifle performing and
other period literature. Chance of a lifetime to own one of the most
FAMOUS Winchester Super Grades to ever roll out of the now shuttered
New Haven factory! The rifle will have even more value once the Herb
Parsons book is published in the next year or so featuring this nice
rifle. C&R OK.

Each set of four .22 cal. Scouts had a different emphasis and were produced in 1967 1968 and 1969 in the following themes: "Trails", "Forts" and "Cow Towns". All of these 12 guns have the SAME serial number of 42 and designations that correspond with the various locales. The Forts: Fort Scout, Fort Hays, Fort Riley, Fort Larnet. The Trails: Chissolm, Pawnee, Sante Fe, Shawnee. The Cow Towns: Dodge City, Wichita, Abilene, Coffeyville. They come in various finishes: Gold, blue, silver decorations and have varying grips. Each group of four comes in their own hard wood case with a map of Kansas and the locales burned into the top lid. Beautifully made! All have crushed velvet interiors. All the Colt Scouts have paper factory boxes in excellent condition. Also included is a large Colt factory statchel which holds the three wooden/glass presentation cases. This is a very impressive grouping and one that will NOT come again. Only 100 cases were made per year and now many are separated or were not bought in all of the three years with the same serial numbers like this unique offering. Outstanding display pieces that have been a hit here in our store. Great historical piece for the great state of Kansas. A nice investment!
