Next 150 Gun Auction December 5th - 15th
Tips from the Gunrunner:

Welcome to The Gunrunner online auctions! I hope you like our new site - we’ve incorporated many of the auction features you said you would like to see as well as features you’ve grown accustomed to while using other popular online purchase sites.

I would like to provide you with several tips that may make your online firearm purchases easier. If you’re like me, there’s nothing more exciting than searching out that firearm that is a "Holy Grail" to you! We get lots of nice estate guns throughout the year and the majority of these go to auction - they will appear on this site every two months or so. It’s the chance to get your dream gun! Here’s some tips:

Tip List
  1. First establish those firearms in which you are most interested, then carefully read the descriptions and study the photos by enlarging them. Then do research on these pieces. Any questions you have on a specific feature of the weapon, please call me (Scott) at (440) 834-0160. I will get the firearm and hold it while I discuss it with you. I will give you my honest appraisal and opinion of the gun as I provide additional information such as its investment potential, collectibility, overall condition/scarcity/demand, etc. I can also provide other digital photographs if you wish of the gun (I can’t rephotograph 10 guns at once, but can do several fairly quickly - usually within a day or so) - please don’t wait until the final days of the auction to make this request. We want you to be happy with your firearm!

  2. Visit The Gunrunner Fine Firearms store in Burton (Tues. - Sat.), Ohio if you live close and carefully examine each firearm and form your own opinion. All of the auction firearms are tagged as to lot number and are available for you to see and handle for as long as you like. The entire month of April is our preview time. We have had collectors fly into Cleveland or our nearby Middlefield air strip (small planes only) and we will be glad to pick you up or you can rent a car to come from Cleveland (we’re 40 minutes away from Clev. Hopkins Airport). Let us know your needs if you wish to visit us here in Ohio. We welcome you! There are hundreds of other store guns to see as well as the auction guns. We have a large retail store. Our town is full of nice antique shops and restaurants with an Amish influence.

  3. This is NOT an "E-Bay" type-bidding situation where the auction ends abruptly at the scheduled time. There is "extended bidding" on each firearm, so if someone bids in the last three minutes (snipes), then that particular gun will extend for three minutes and keep extending until the bids are exhausted - just like a LIVE auction. Also, it is not advantageous to bid, say $225.17 because the computer only recognizes whole numbers in the increments specified (example: $50 moves or more only). If you are traveling away at the close of the auction, you can submit an "EZ Bid" which is handy and does not require you to constantly monitor the firearm bidding. You simply submit a maximum bid you’re willing to pay and the machine does the rest! See Bidding for more info.

  4. If you are sure you will win some of the Gunrunner auction firearms and you are out of state (a state other than Ohio), you can speed up the process by sending us your local gun dealer’s FFL or your C&R license ahead of time. Simply write on the license your name and your intent to bid in our auctions or do further store business with us. Once this license is on file, you don’t have to send another one (until it expires). When you win a firearm in our auction, please indicate to us that you have a license on file and we’ll immediately ship the piece!

  5. Stay in touch with us throughout the auction. E-Mail is best. My E-Mail is scott@thegunrunner.com. Please ask for information at the BEGINNING of the auction - don’t wait until the last hour to ask a question or request more photos. Watch your guns very carefully - much of the bid action happens in the last 20 minutes or less. Note that the firearms close at DIFFERENT times. These times are Eastern Standard Time, so note that.

  6. If you have a sensitive SPAM catcher, watch out! Because we are a gun company, "catchers" sometimes knock our E-Mails/E-Mail brochures out to you. If you feel this is going to be a problem, call us at (440) 834-0160 and we’ll talk over the phone.

  7. Those bidders who do well at my auctions are those who carefully inspect each firearm - either by a visit to the store or by studying the digital photos. My smartest customers watch everything being offered - in every auction there are tremendous buys and savings to those who PAY ATTENTION and study the lots. Stay with your "Watch List" until the end!

  8. One last tip: Carefully read Terms of Sale so you know how the game is played. Rules are rules! We are strictly governed by state and federal firearms laws. We will make sure you abide by the law! We want to be doing this for many years to come! Good luck bidding! We really appreciate your business. We hope you pass our site on to your other gun-buying friends!
